River Isar runs through Munich and it adds so much charm to the city. It is great to see the city celebrate its waterfront: there are numerous parks, networks of trails for bikers and runners, islands with beaches, and major landmarks along the river. People seem to love Isar: we see couples drinking wine on the benches by the river and people having barbecue in the park areas by the water, swimming, or just strolling along the river. Munich is also known for its river surfing both on Isar and its side arm Eisbach.
