The Olympiapark in Munich was built for the 1972 Summer Olympics. The grounds and the venues are open to the public and there are many social, cultural, and religious events being held at the park today. For instance, we saw the stadium being set up for a concert; the park serves as the venue for one of the Munich’s open air cinemas, and one of the halls has the exhibit of King Tut’s treasures April through September 2015. Right near the park are Munich’s BMW museum and plant.
We went up the Olympic Tower (cost: 5.50 euros) to see Munich from the height of 190 m, which is where the observation platform is located. I wanted to go up because the tower is where you could get the shot of the city’s skyline with the mountains in the background. Unfortunately, there was too much haze today to see the mountains clearly; however, the city and the park below us were spectacular.
